Surgery

This scenario library has been created with funding and support of the NHS Health Education England - Thames Valley (HEE TV), which supports a number of Simulation Fellowship projects every year.

This project led to the design and creation of this training resource, consisting of 21 simulation scenarios mapped to The JCST surgical training curriculum.
Scenarios are split into two main categories; ‘Immersive’ and ‘Technical’ scenarios;

  • The ‘Immersive’ category includes 11 simulation scenarios that provide surgical trainees with a challenging scenario to manage. The skills required will vary between scenarios ( e.g. Clinical decision-making, communication skills, practical ability).
  • The ‘Technical’ category includes 10 simulation scenarios focused on variety of surgical skills trainees will need to develop through their training.

All the scenarios are designed to a standard generic template, including a graphical display of the scenario events. This includes colour-coded pathways allowing difficulty to be adjusted to suit the participant.
