Clinical Simulation Training

Overview

Health Education England, Thames Valley (HEE TV) and Health Education England, Wessex (HEE WES) are striving to develop innovative educational and training solutions which enable us to respond to the changing needs of the health economy and ensure our workforce are highly competent and fit for purpose.

Clinical simulation training is increasingly used to introduce clinicians to new operative and interpersonal skills and techniques to help keep them up to date, or to assess competence, and hence demonstrate fitness to practice.

HEE TV and HEE WES  strives to develop an integrated approach to clinical simulation training, which:

  • builds on the expertise already available in the region
  • encourages a multi-professional approach to learning and development
  • uses research methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of simulation training
  • provides funding to support the training requirements for Trusts and PCTs.

In addition, we have worked very closely with our simulation colleagues to embed clinical simulation training and develop sustainable programmes.  Simulation training has evolved over the last few years, it is becoming more common and is widely used across all staff groups; it is no longer considered an innovative method of clinical training but instead becoming an accepted part of core training and is in some cases now included in course curricula.

Fellowships

HEE TV  has a regular intake of Fellows interested in Clinical Simulation from a wide range of health backgrounds. The Fellowships are intended to promote and develop the use of simulation in different training contexts and to produce a collection of simulation scenarios and education packages.

We are delighted to offer Fellowships to health professionals from a wide range of health backgrounds. The Fellowships are intended to promote and develop the use of simulation in different training contexts and to produce a collection of simulation scenarios and education packages.
