Less Than Full Time

Less than Full Time Training ( LTFTT ) is an option for doctors and dentists who are unable to train full time and therefore wish to train on a less than full time basis.

The Oxford Deanery manages Core Specialty Training, Higher Specialty Training, GP Specialty Training and Foundation programmes within Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

Please see LTFTT policy and the LTFTT Update Form for further information

Please note that all existing and potential less than full-time trainees should note this new update form, which has recently been introduced to improve Deanery awareness of trainees’ circumstances and plans. If you are currently training less than full-time, or waiting to do so, from now on you will be required to download the form twice yearly (June and December) and submit a completed version to the Deanery.

Dr Rebecca Mather is Associate Dean for Less Than Full Time training

National LTFT Trainee Survey

The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges hosts the AoMRC Flexible Careers Committee, and this committee has produced an electronic survey for doctors aimed at identifying issues and concerns (not related to terms and conditions) of doctors working less than full time.

The Deanery encourages as many LTFT trainees as possible to complete this survey, the closing date of which is 30th June 2012. The Academy has issued some background information about the survey which is replicated below. Any queries regarding this survey should be sent to nina.newbery@aomrc.org.uk (and not the Deanery).

"The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges Flexible Careers Committee, which comprises representatives from Academy member organisations, seeks to promote a good work life balance for all doctors and specifically to support flexible training and less than full time training. As part of its current work programme the Committee has devised an electronic survey to identify if consultants, SAS doctors and trainees working less than full time (LTFT) are experiencing difficulties in working LTFT: if so how frequent are these difficulties, what type of difficulties are commonly encountered, and how (or if) they are resolved.

We also hope to review the additional responsibilities fulfilled by doctors, both FT and LTFT, to try to establish whether or not working LTFT currently restricts the ability to take on additional roles.

We hope to firstly identify, and subsequently quantify, important current issues for LTFT doctors so that we can advise all the Royal Colleges on how best to support their members.

To do this please complete this survey by clicking or copy this link to your web browser - it should only take a few minutes to complete

We are very grateful for your help in completing this survey. The results will be published on the AOMRC Flexible Careers Committee webpage, and will be shared with all the Royal Colleges so may also be reported or published in some of their journals".
