GP Training

During the 3 year GP Specialty Training Programme, we aim to provide the highest standard of vocational training for doctors who wish to pursue a career in General Practice, and to give them the best start to their General Practice career.

We are composed of three counties, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. The GP School have seven Vocational Training Schemes covering the Chilterns and Cotswolds – Banbury, Oxford, Reading & Newbury, Milton Keynes, Aylesbury/Wycombe (Bucks) and Windsor. The Vocational Training Schemes are facilitated by around 20 Programme Directors, with over 200 Trainers spread across over 130 Training Practices to support around 400 trainees. We have a range of training practices that serve both very rural areas and inner cities. It is a popular place to train, not only because of the high standard of training practices, but also the easy access to all other parts of the country.

Whether you want to work and live in the countryside or in the city, both options are available.
